The earnest worker
Before Bassoon had Montegrappa, it had ELMO – the go-to pen for academics and artisans throughout Italy. But by the late 1920s, Bassano’s wartime role had become symbolic. The town embraced its landmark mountain, and became Bassano del Grappa. Local factories joined in. Soon, ELMO pens were being called by the name etched proudly into their barrels. Monte Grappa recalls this more earnest era.
